Manchester United decided to keep Erik Ten Hag as their manager for the coming season, with his deal running out in 2025. And now, The Athletic’s David Ornstein has confirmed that the club has an option to extend Ten Hag’s contract for one more season, as they do in the case of most of their players as well.
After a disappointing season in the Premier League where the team finished 8th, their worst ever in the top flight, they turned things around by winning the FA Cup against rivals Manchester City to secure Europa League football for the coming season.

Negotiations progressing very well with both sides believing new deal will be agreed soon.

The former Ajax manager has been criticised a lot this past season, but it’s important to remember the sheer number of injuries he was dealing with. Moreover, there have been signs of growth under him as United have won two trophies after a long wait since 2017, while making it to three finals.
Young players such as Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo and Rasmus Hojlund are all stepping up as well, in what seems to be a new generation of Manchester United players to nail down their place in the starting line-up.
In spite of speaking to candidates such as Thomas Tuchel and Thomas Frank of Brentford, the board has decided to back Erik Ten Hag and maintain the continuity in the squad for the foreseeable future.
Now, there are talks of a new contract being agreed between the two parties, the details of which are yet to be finalised.
