A few well-known soccer players found themselves in legal hot water due to terrible mistakes they made. Some were imprisoned for trivial infractions, while others perpetrated horrific acts that horrified people all throughout the world.


Some football players were freed from prison before serving their full sentences for various reasons. For example, the police could only detain individuals for a few days or months in order to question them or because they had an ongoing investigation. Some were freed to serve their jail sentences at home under house arrest.

15. De Pedro


Javi de Pedro, a former player for Real Sociedad and the Spanish national team, received a nine-month prison sentence for acts of gender aggression.



14. Robinho



Robinho is currently serving a term for gang rape in Brazil, a nation whose jail system is dubbed “Hell on Earth” due to the prevalence of sexual assault and beheadings among its convicts.

13. Dani Alves


For sexual assault, the Brazilian received a sentence of four years and six months.


12. Mendy Benjamin


The former Man City star was convicted of sexual assault and rape in 2021 and sent to prison. He posted bail and was freed in January 2022. Six counts were dropped during the trial; two are still pending.

11. Ruben Semedo


Shortly before signing for Huesca, the Portuguese centre back was released from Pocassent prison in Spain after serving 142 days on remand following accusations of attempted murder, injury, threats, unlawful detention, unlawful possession of weapons, and violent robbery.


10. A Freddy Rincon


The former Real Madrid star was convicted of cocaine trafficking and served 123 days in prison.


9. Lucas Viatri


The Boca player was only incarcerated for one month for his involvement in a hair salon heist.

8. Rene  Higuita



“I recall being placed in jail, and eight days later, I was informed that my incarceration was due to a law against kidnapping. It seemed like, “Give me over to Pablo Escobar and you haven’t done anything wrong,” to me. I was placed on a chopper with handcuffs on, and I was being escorted by another helicopter. Not even the most notorious drug dealer has ever been subjected to this. The Colombian claimed that “they only did it to Rene Higuita.”


7. Gabriel  Cortez


He had sent back while being held in April 2022.



6. Adam Johnson


He had sex with a minor and was given a six-year term. Only three of the six years were served by him.

 5. Vinicius “Breno” Broges


Breno set fire to his home while intoxicated in 2011 and received a three-year prison sentence.



4. Nizar Trabelsi


The Tunisian was convicted of ten years in prison for his role as an accomplice in the Twin Towers attack after being connected to Islamic terrorism.



3. Bruno  Fernandes de Souza


The goalie demanded the murder of his colleague. The football player was given a 22-year prison sentence in 2013, but the young woman’s body was never discovered.


2. Predrag Stankovic


After the ‘Operation Cyclone’ for cocaine trafficking in Spain in 2009, he was incarcerated.

1.Peter Storey


In 1979, he was incarcerated for operating a brothel, disseminating pornographic material, and then for fabricating gold coins.
