Bedi stated, “This is not only my tale. It is the story of an Indian woman who grew up in India, educated in India, was reared by Indian parents, and has spent her whole career working for the Indian people. My narrative began when I was nine years old, when my father told me, ‘Life is on an incline; you either go up or down,’ and my mother remarked, ‘You shall be a giver rather than a receiver.’ These statements have been my guiding values. As we plan to broadcast this film during the 50th International Year of the Woman, it will be the story of an Indian woman representing our beautiful nation on a global scale.”

Chawla remarked, “This film is a labor of love.” Four years of extensive study and scriptwriting have been spent to delivering an accurate and insightful representation of Kiran Bedi, India’s most beloved and renowned cop.”

“It is an honor and joy to write and direct a film on Kiran Bedi’s extraordinary life. She has been a huge influence to me, and having her trust in directing this film is a true blessing. In this feature film, I investigate heartwarming transformations, unseen successes, and Kiran Bedi’s amazing personal and professional journey as the first woman to negotiate the male-dominated world of policing. I believe that the audience will actually get to know the woman behind the khaki and be inspired.

Megan Doneman directed the documentary “Kiran Bedi: Yes Madam, Sir,” which was released in 2008. The Telugu-language film “Karthavyam,” largely based on Bedi’s biography, was a box-office success in 1990. Vijayashanti won India’s National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance as an IPS officer in the film. The Kannada-language film “Kannadada Kiran Bedi,” a dramatized retelling of the Bedi story starring Malashri, was released in 2009.
