Bayern Munich are keen on signing Joao Palhinha from Fulham this summer to bolster their midfield for the coming season. The Portuguese midfielder had almost completed a transfer to the Bavarians during the winter transfer window, going as far as completing a photoshoot in their jersey for the official announcement.
However, the formalities could not be completed within the deadline, which meant he ended up staying with the Cottagers for the second half of the season.

The player has agreed to a contract with Bayern, including the salary and the length. The two clubs are close to reaching an agreement over a fee worth €45 million, including add-ons.
While Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich are both great midfielders, they have been unable to provide the defence cover necessary. As a result, recruiting a top defensive midfielder like Palhinha will surely make the team much more compact defensively.
The Portuguese’s arrival is unlikely to cause either Kimmich or Goretzka to leave, since the team needs the defensive cover alongside the dynamic box-to-box energy provided by the two.
