Kylian Mbappe will be wearing the number 9 jersey at Real Madrid next season, after the club officially announced his arrival on a free transfer. The striker wore the number 7 shirt with PSG, but it is currently taken by Vinicius Jr.
The Brazilian has taken on the responsibility incredibly well, and has earned the right to wear the number that previously belonged to Cristiano Ronaldo and Raul. With the number 9 free since Karim Benzema left the club, Mbappe will follow in Ronaldo’s footsteps and will wear the number 9 shirt when he arrives.

The 25-year-old wears the number 10 jersey for France, but didn’t ask for the number in negotiations with Real Madrid. Luka Modric currently wears the number 10, and has extended his contract for one more season. Out of respect, Mbappe didn’t even consider taking the jersey from him at this time.
Real Madrid will have one of the most feared attacks in Spain and Europe altogether from the coming season, with Mbappe to join Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo.
Before linking up with Los Blancos, the France international will represent his country at the Euros, heading in as one of the favourites to lift the cup.
