Chelsea to earn £5 million bonus from Real Madrid’s UCL win as part of Eden Hazard transfer

Chelsea are set to earn £5 million from Real Madrid after their 15th Champions League win this past weekend at Wembley Stadium in London. The Blues had included a clause in Eden Hazard’s contract for a bonus payout if Los Blancos won their 15th title in Wembley.

And even though Hazard has retired from football, the West Londoners are still profiting from their big-money sale in 2019, earning a small boost from the Champions League winners.

At the time, Eden Hazard was Real Madrid’s record transfer and was expected to become the heir to Cristiano Ronaldo on the left wing. However, he struggled to replicate his incredible form at Stamford Bridge, and was held back by several injuries throughout his four-year spell at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, he still won the Champions League with Real Madrid in 2022 and also lifted a couple of LaLiga titles in the famous white shirt.

Hazard will be returning to West London for Soccer Aid on June 9, and has been enjoying life after retirement last summer. He is still hailed as one of the Blues’ best ever players, after a career that has inspired many.
