Some skewed details have been received on what the next Galaxy watches might look like. These new leaks show some interesting decisions, such as the use of a 3nm chipset. Earlier rumors had suggested that the Galaxy Watch 7 could feature a design inspired by the Apple Watch and would become square-shaped. Recent leaks have now come up matching past speculation and sharing even more compelling details. That indicates that the company is keen to make major design tweaks in its next wearable series.

More About Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra

The images of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra renders shared by SmartPrix show a round display but some square edges. What this design will be called also is unknown right now, but a safe bet is to presume that the Ultra model version in due course will carry both the old as well as new.

And for the core visual, it is choosing a circular shape that does at least offer some continuity — sort of like Samsung playing things safe with that dial as its legacy touchstones twist to obscurity. This would suggest that the design is intended to look less stark, and a little softer against the wrist than Apple Watch.

This, of course, would not be the company’s first square wearables venture. The Gear series of Samsung, which was boxed shaped leaning more towards the rectangular shape is past its prime. The first set of Android smartwatches also carried square displays. But, as this form factor was phased out to set it apart from rivals, the square finish has grown associated with the Apple Watch.

That design refresh isn’t the only big change coming to the smartwatch lineup, according to reports, which also claim Samsung has added a third button and made Blackberry-style changes in size. An oblong third button in the middle of two round, standard buttons is also being speculated.

Unfortunately, the report doesn’t provide any details on what the extra button does, though this is likely tied to Galaxy AI. On the other hand, it may actually be advantageous if all of these features are blended together via a short cut for example, like Apple Watch Ultra’s shortcut button; this is one possibility Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra can follow.
