Manchester United have won the FA Cup 2024, defeating their rivals Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley Stadium to ensure they would be playing European football next season, and to end the campaign with silverware.
Academy graduates Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo scored the goals in the first half to give their side the lead. Stefan Ortega and Josko Gvardiol miscommunicated, with the Croatian heading the ball back as the goalkeeper charged out, and Ortega failed to gather the ball, leaving Garnacho free to tap the ball in.

Mainoo then produced a calm finish after a brilliant pass by Bruno Fernandes found him in space on the left flank.
United then defended incredibly well, maintaining their shape throughout the game as City tried to break them down, but couldn’t. Erling Haaland, Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne were silenced by the United defence, giving them very few chances to score.
Haaland struck the crossbar with his effort in the second half, while Andre Onana saved several shots. Jeremy Doku proved to be the difference maker, scoring with an effort from the left flank, but it was too little too late.
