Jesus Navas has informed the club that he will be leaving Sevilla after 688 appearances for the Spanish side. The 38-year-old will not be retiring as he is prepared to try on a new chellenge. However, he was not offered a new contract by them in spite of being one of their longest serving players.

The full-back leaves Sevilla as the club’s record appearance maker, with 600 starts across all competitions and 500 appearances in LaLiga. He scored 39 goals and provided 119 assists during his time at the club.

Navas is also the most decorated player in Sevilla history, having won four UEFA Europa Leagues, two Copa del Reys, one European Supercup and one Spanish Supercup.

In total, the veteran played 17 seasons for Sevilla, interrupted only by his time at Manchester City between 2013-17. He announced his decision to the players today at the training ground, marking the end of an era.

“The club would like to wish Jesús Navas the best as embarks on a new professional chapter, as well as thank him for his commitment, professionalism and honesty with which he has shown throughout his career and for which he is one of our all-time greatest symbols,” Sevilla wrote on their official website, confirming his decision to move away.
