Chelsea are stepping up in their attempts to sign Willian Estevao, the Palmeiras youngster dubbed the “next Messi”. The player has a release clause in his contract worth €55 million. However, the Blues are planning so that they can work out a favourable payment plan.

To sign the youngster, Chelsea have proposed a €32 million fee upfront, with around €25 million available in add-ons, which would surpass his release clause amount. As of now, they are ahead of rivals Arsenal and Manchester United in the race, and have also reached an agreement on personal terms with the player.

Estevao has made 17 appearances across all competitions including the youth leagues and senior team this season, scoring seven goals and providing three assists. He has also represented the Brazilian national team at the U17 level, scoring three goals in his five appearances.

The Blues want to close the deal as fast as possible since they consider Willian Estevao to be a generational talent. However, the player will only be able to join the first team in 2025, when he turns 18. The situation is similar to that of Kendry Paez, who has agreed to join Chelsea in the future.

But, with Noni Madueke, Cole Palmer and Omari Hutchinson all natural right wingers like Estevao, at least one of them could have to make way unless the players can adapt to the situation.
