Alphonso Davies scored the first goal of the game to give Bayern the lead, cutting in from the left on a counter attack to score a thunderous goal with his weaker right foot.
Reminiscent of Karim Benzema pouncing on Gigio Donnarumma the last time Real Madrid won the Champions League title, this time Joselu poached on a spill from Manuel Neuer. The German goalkeeper failed to gather the ball, and it took only a second for the striker to rush in and score from the tightest of spaces.
Joselu then doubled the lead with another finish from close range, sparking celebrations from the Madrid squad. The game finished controversially, however, as the referee blew the whistle for a narrow offside, which was followed by Matthijs De Ligt scoring. However, the Madrid players had stopped playing and there was nothing the referee could have done.
Bayern were furious at the decision, and both manager Thomas Tuchel and De Ligt spoke out in the post match press conference about the call. However, there is nothing they can do about it as they go trophyless in a season for the first time since 2011/12.
