Paul Pogba has always been keen on Real Madrid, publicly appreciating the club on multiple occasions, saying it would “be a dream” to play for them for years on end now.

In the transfer windows gone by, Real Madrid have tried approaching Manchester United for the star midfielder as well, but have found it difficult to match United’s £100 million+ evaluation of the Frenchman.

But that hasn’t stopped Pogba and Zidane from commenting on each other and ponder about the possibility of working together at the Bernabeu.

According to the latest reports, Real are willing to add Pogba to their ranks if the World Cup winner agrees to take a pay cut.

Currently, Pogba earns a handsome fee of £290,000 per week, which amounts to £15 million a year. Although it is well known that Real Madrid can match the weekly wages of the 27-year-old, they have asked Mino Raiola to make arrangements for a reduction in salary if Pogba is to ever play for Madrid.

Real’s reluctance to offer the high wages of the player can be understood following the situation with Gareth Bale and the way that it turned out.

Zidane has not been holding out for a transfer for Pogba, and already has his own stacked set of star midfielders, boasting the likes of Kroos, Casemiro, Modric, Fede Valverde and Isco.

Though Real Madrid are currently not interested in Pogba’s services, Spanish publication Marca indicates that Real would only sign the midfielder for free, at the end of his current contract.

However, Manchester United have the option of extending Pogba’s contract by a year, which they are sure to do given that Pogba is one of their most prized assets and they would do anything to not lose him for free.

On the other side of things, Pogba has not been in the best of form in recent times and it is debatable whether he would even make the starting lineup at Real, given the competition at the Bernabeu.

All that said, it does seem likely that Mino Raiola will bring Pogba to the Bernabeu someday, when that happens is a question that can only be answered in the months to come.
