According to DigiTimes, which cites sources from the Taiwanese supply chain industry, Apple will not hold a separate event to announce the new iPad Pro and iPad Air, published the first week of March.

According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple simply “doesn’t have an event” for the new iPads. Of course, this statement was made before the appearance of a batch of reports pushing the launch of the device.

More About Apple and new iPads

Apple still “has no plans to hold an event in May,” DigiTimes reports. Most likely, the company is simply going to announce new products with a press release on its website: a few weeks ago, the company introduced a new MacBook Air with M1 without hosting an event. Gurman anticipates Apple will make the announcement by the second week of May, barring any further production challenges.

The delay in releasing the new iPads was due to two primary reasons, according to Gurman: ongoing software development for iPadOS designed for the new devices and more advanced manufacturing techniques needed for OLED displays. Two new iPad Pro models with an M3 chip, and the remaining possibilities are OLED displays, a thinner body, smaller bezels, and a matte screen option. Two new iPad Air models with an M2 chip, as well as the camera placed horizontally, including a 12.9-inch iPad Air for the first time.

What else? A new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro with an aluminum enclosure and a larger trackpad; a few other design enhancements; a new version of the Apple Pencil with highlighted features like a new “squeeze” gesture and potential future support for visionOS. The tech giant has not refreshed its iPads in nearly 18 months, and consumers have been eagerly waiting for new versions. 2023 was Apple’s first year without any iPads and is also known as an iPad-less year in fact.
