Yellowstone Season 6
The success of Yellowstone is indisputable. Paramount is developing several spinoffs, CBS is airing repeats of Yellowstone, and John Dutton is so influential in television that he’s supporting the entire franchise. Even though there haven’t been any new Yellowstone episodes in almost a year, the show is still hugely popular.
Fans of Yellowstone, I have both good and bad news to share. The good news is that Yellowstone’s fifth season will have a formal conclusion. There are just nine months left for viewers to see it, which is horrible news.
The Hollywood Reporter claims that the last episodes of the Dutton family tale will air in November 2024. I opt to view the news via a half-full lens. Yellowstone will have a real conclusion! Furthermore, Sheridan is apparently developing two more spinoffs. There will be a prequel spinoff set in 1944 and a present-day narrative set in 2024 (which is probably the sequel that Paramount already hinted at and will probably star Matthew McConaughey). Don’t worry, Yellowstone will continue.
Who would be back in a Yellowstone Season 6 sequel series?
The 68-year-old actor Kevin Costner, who plays the show’s patriarch, is not expected to return. The series conclusion was delayed in no small part due to the actor’s reported conflict with show creator Taylor Sheridan around filming dates and contract conflicts. Other variables include Sheridan’s own strike-while-the-iron’s hot strategy of other Paramount+ series, like Lawmen: Bass Reeves and Special Ops: Lioness, Costner’s divorce, and the actor’s intentions for his own western film franchise (Horizon).
Costner’s camp is reportedly “still asking that Sheridan bring him back to finish his arc,” according to a recent report from Matthew Belloni of Puck News, but the creator of Yellowstone is now more than happy to move on without him. “Sheridan is said to be super happy with how he currently wraps up the show—without Costner,” Belloni stated. “With shooting set for this spring and summer, the clock is ticking on any reconciliation.” In addition, Paramount has not yet disclosed what the Dutton family saga would entail after Matthew McConaughey leaves the franchise. However, that won’t stop us from speculating, so let’s get started.
Will Yellowstone Have a Sixth Season?
Plans for a sixth season have already been cancelled in favour of an unnamed follow-up series starring Matthew McConaughey, as Paramount revealed. Will this be a whole new show, or just Season Six under a different name? Numerous members of the cast have shown their want to see the story through to the end, and there have even been rumours that Paramount was thinking of resurrecting some of the older Yellowstone characters.
Taste of Country claims that the show briefly explored including a second, long-lost Dutton sibling, played by Christian music icon Cory Asbury. “In an Instagram live video, I was supposed to be Kayce’s long-lost brother,” he stated. “Our plan was to relocate to Montana for a complete year. We were prepared.” According to reports, Asbury was scheduled to meet with Taylor Sheridan and Luke Grimes before to the start of the off-screen drama. Cory, you never know! I feel like everything is still very much up in the air.
