Skoda Auto Volkswagen India is strategizing to enter the sub 4m SUV segment. Skoda teased an image of its SUV at a recent event providing a glimpse of its front design. The launch of the SUV is anticipated next year with Skoda focusing on pricing and specifications. Volkswagen is also expected to introduce a model. The test vehicle’s design shows similarities to the Taigun featuring styling with sharp lines.

The side profile reveals resemblances to the Taigun, including the C pillar shape and connected tail lights creating a C-shaped effect. Standout features consist of a shark fin antenna mounted LED stop lamp and roof rails. There’s speculation about whether this might be a facelift for the Taigun.

The incomplete details provided in the surveillance image make it challenging to come to a conclusion. Signs point towards a potential Taigun facelift. With the Taigun already established in the market since September 2021 a midlife update could potentially boost its attractiveness.

Skoda has confirmed facelifts for the Kushaq and Slavia, likely followed by their Volkswagen counterparts. Feature additions such as a 360-degree camera, ADAS suite, panoramic sunroof, and rear disc brakes are anticipated. The Taigun facelift is expected to retain its current powertrain options: a 1.0L Turbo Petrol engine (114 bhp, 178 Nm, 6MT, 6TC) and a 1.5L Turbo Petrol engine (148 bhp, 250 Nm, 6MT, 7DCT).
