In October, Google unveiled the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Recent online chatter suggests that a new device, possibly named the Pixel 8a could be launched in May. Initially thought to be a range model the latest reports hint that the Pixel 8a might come with a higher price tag compared to its predecessor particularly in the European Union. It is expected to offer storage options of 128GB and 256GB and may be released in four colors. Rumors speculate that the Pixel 8a will run on a Google Tensor G3 SoC.
The Upcoming Google Pixel 8a
As per a report from Winfuture.de, it is rumored that the base model of the Pixel 8a could start at EUR 570 (about ₹51,000) for the version with 128GB storage while the variant with 256GB storage may be priced at EUR 630 (around ₹56,000). If these leaks hold true it would indicate a jump from the launch price of EUR 499 (around ₹45,000) for the Pixel 7a.
The color options for the Pixel 8a are said to include bay (light blue), mint (light green), obsidian (black), and porcelain (beige) though not all colors may be available, for both storage variants. The Google Pixel 7a was first introduced in India around May year priced at ₹43,999 for the model, with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Speculations suggest that the expected cost of the Pixel 8a might place it in competition with rivals like the OnePlus 12R, Nothing Phone 2, and the Galaxy S23 FE, within the market.
It is speculated that Google will unveil the Pixel 8a at its I/O event scheduled for May. The phone is rumored to feature a 6.1-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate and could be powered by Google’s Tensor G3 SoC along with 8GB of RAM. Additionally, it may come with a 5,000mAh battery supporting 27W wired fast charging and is expected to measure 152.1 x 72.6 x 8.9mm.
