Asus VivoBook Gaming with 10th Gen Core i7 & GTX 1650 available for just ₹82,990 on Flipkart

I have always been a fan of slim gaming notebooks and in recent years they had almost gone extinct, however, since last year, a lot of OEMs including ASUS, MSI have started making slim gaming laptops. Obviously these are portable and lets you game anywhere any time you want to.

I respect ones coming from ASUS, like the ROG Zephyrus G14 and its VivoBook Gaming laptop series with Intel CPUs which have been well received by the Indian gaming community because of their price and performance in a slim form factor. Until now, ASUS used the old 8th gen and 9th gen Core i5 for these laptops and I like the fact that the Taiwanese OEM has used the latest 10th Gen Core i7 gaming processor here.

So, the new Asus VivoBook Gaming (2020) features some interesting specs including a 15.6 inch Full HD LED Backlit Anti-glare IPS Display with 250 nits of peak brightness, 45% NTSC color gamut, 80% screen-to-body ratio, and a 16:9 aspect ratio.

The main thing that separates all the laptops from this one is the insane amount of performance it gives at the price. The gaming laptop comes equipped with a 10th Gen Intel Core i7-10750H with 6 cores clocked at 2.6 GHz (base) and up to 5 GHz (boost). Making this one a great performer especially for games and another “cherry on the cake” spec at this price is the inclusion of 16 GB DRR4 RAM.

Also, you have a 512 GB NVMe SSD as well while for graphics you get a modest NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1650 GPU with 4GB GDDR6 memory. Having such an amount of horsepower beneath it, the laptop still weighs just 2.14 kg, still decent enough to carry it anywhere and use for productivity as you also get IEEE 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) & Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity options.

However, one downside of this laptop is that it has a small battery of 3-cell 42 WHr Li-ion Battery which can be charged via a 150 W AC Adapter. My personal VivoBook Flip 14 has the same battery, and it gives me about 5-6 hours of battery life on normal usage. However having such a beefy CPU inside can take a lot of charge at once, so you have to carry the charger on a regular basis.

For ports you have 2 x USB 2.0, 1 x USB 3.1 (1st Gen) Type A, 1 x USB 3.1 (1st Gen) Type C, 1 x HDMI 1.4, 3.5 mm headphone jack, RJ-45, and a 2-in-1 Card Reader (SD/MMC). Much like other Vivobooks it also has dual Harman/Kardon speakers baked on the sides of the chassis and should give decent sound quality, don’t expect to be exceptional though.

It features a much-required 720p HD webcam, a fingerprint sensor for faster logins using Windows Hello, a TPM security chip, a backlit chiclet keyboard with 1.4 mm key travel which is quite good for daily use. Do note that the trackpad is smaller than usual so you have to use a mouse anyway but the quality of it is good enough.

Overall, the new Asus VivoBook Gaming (2020) with Intel Core i7-10750H is a good performer and is great for those who need a regular driver for both productivity or gaming needs, also do note the screen quality is not the most accurate and bright, so PhotoShop or video editors stay away from this. However, for regular use and gaming this is a great options for budget buyers if performance is all that you are looking for.
