Bharti Airtel in its efforts to roll out the 5G Plus network nationwide has introduced a technology called eSIM. This technology aims to provide connectivity across all devices while enhancing security features especially when it comes to smartphone theft. The eSIM, also known as embedded SIM eliminates the need, for a SIM card. Is now supported by certain smartwatches and newer smartphone models.

In a message to Airtels customers, CEO & MD Gopal Vittal highlighted the importance of e-SIM in today’s focused lifestyles where our mobiles, tablets, and watches are interconnected. Vittal emphasized that the e-SIM would enable connectivity and shared an example; imagine going for a morning jog without carrying your phone; instead, you can stay connected through your smartwatch using the e-SIM even if you leave your phone at home.

Vittal stressed the flexibility of e-technology by stating that users can manage mobile numbers on a single e-SIM. This offers convenience and adaptability. He further pointed out how easy it is to switch devices with an e-SIM making the transition smooth, for users.

Regarding security Vittal mentioned that e-SIMs present an obstacle, for criminals trying to get rid of stolen smartphones because they don’t have the option to physically remove the SIM card like traditional ones do. To address worries, about stolen smartphones, Vittal reassured customers that e-SIMs simplify tracking increasing the likelihood of finding a lost device.

He emphasized Airtel’s commitment to providing a convenient and efficient connectivity experience for its users. According to Vittal, all devices supporting eSIM are compatible with Airtel eSIM, and the transition from a physical SIM to an e-SIM can be easily accomplished through the Airtel Thanks app. Once the eSIM profile is downloaded and enabled, it becomes activated on the device for seamless connectivity services.

In summary, Bharti Airtel’s introduction of e-SIM technology represents a significant step towards providing users with enhanced connectivity options, greater security features, and the flexibility to manage multiple mobile numbers on a single device.
