That means the Sun is lighting up the side of the Moon we can see, creating a round, bright disk. A full moon comes around once every month or so.
Now, from one full moon to the next, an average of about 29.53 days passes. That’s called a synodic month. Lunar calendars, which start a new month with each new moon, usually see the full moon on the 14th or 15th day. In these calendars, a month can be either 29 or 30 days long because they use whole, not fractional, days.
