X formerly known as Twitter might soon charge $1 per year in select countries

X formerly known as Twitter, stated that it will begin a new experiment in which “new unverified” users will be charged a $1 per year price to engage with postings. According to the corporation, this test is presently underway in New Zealand and the Philippines, and existing users will be unaffected.

Users that pay the charge will be able to post material, like, repost, respond, bookmark, and quote posts. New free users will only receive a read-only account that allows them to view posts and follow accounts.

According to the company’s help account, the “Not A Bot” application is not a profit generator. Instead, the corporation said that this program will assist it in reducing spam. The corporation stated on its support page that it will reveal the findings of the program’s efficiency in combating spam.

X formerly known as twitter will charge consumers “a small monthly payment” to use its service

In June, X formerly known as twitter began asking users to log in before viewing posts. Days later, the site removed this restriction and permitted logged-out users to view posts. According to a recent survey from market intelligence firm Similarweb, traffic on X formerly known as twitter has decreased one year after Musk’s $44 billion acquisition. The corporation has implemented extreme cost-cutting initiatives in order to begin producing a profit.

Linda Yaccarino, the company’s CEO, stated in an interview last month that X formerly known as twitter will be profitable by 2024. During the interview, the former NBCU executive dodged a question regarding X’s plans to charge customers a fee.

X presently has only one premium plan that costs $8 per month. According to previously uncovered code, the corporation may launch three premium tiers, one of which will be completely ad-free.
