Monaco have confirmed the departure of their sporting director Paul Mitchell, after he announced in Spring that he wouldn’t continue with the club. Thiago Scuro has been named the new general manager of the club, a title that gives him total control over not only the sporting but also the administrative part of the club.

Mitchell confirmed that he would be leaving the club soon, but did not place a timescale on when he would leave. After a meeting of the club’s board on Monday, a final decision has been taken which sees Scuro promoted to the role of the general manager of the club.

Ben Lambrecht has also left the club, after joining them in December 2022 having replaced Jean-Emmanuel de Witt.

Monaco announce Thiago Scuro as new general manager of the club after Paul Mitchell departure

The delayed departure of Paul Mitchell has allowed Scuro to settle in so that there isn’t a sudden change in the club.

After their win over Marseille this weekend, Monaco find themselves at the top of the league table. They have been forced to part ways with top players in recent years like Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi, both of whom joined Chelsea, as well as Aurelien Tchouameni who left for Real Madrid.

But in spite of the departures, they have been able to stay competitive in Ligue 1. And this year, they could enter the title race if they can keep up their form.

Mitchell, on the other hand, has been linked with a return to England since Liverpool and Tottenham are eager to find a new sporting director. However, he is yet to make a final decision on his future.
