It seems that there’s no end to the Chinese smartphone giant’s supremacy in India, entering the smartphone market in 2014 and after that, the brand has not looked back since then.
Xiaomi has consistently topped the charts for 12 straight quarters and amidst this anti-China movement, the Chinese smartphone brand has also sold the most number of smartphones for Q2 2020.
It has beaten Samsung in sales with its aggressive pricing and great specs. As the market is heavily dependent online, Xiaomi has taken a huge benefit from its online sales, is the number 1 online smartphone brand for 15 quarters now.
For the last two years, it has heavily expanded offline as well and has given the heavy fight to Samsung with its entry-level smartphones for masses. In spite of all the issues with MIUI or privacy concerns, people are keen on buying Xiaomi products, just because people cannot find a good alternative.
Other smartphone brands cannot just keep up with Xiaomi’s pricing strategy and specs, the only exception being Realme. Samsung is trying a lot to recover and it has done a good job with the M series, however, it has to get a good grab over the sub Rs.10k and Rs.10k – Rs.15k price segment.
As we see in Manu Jain’s tweet, Xiaomi’s best-selling smartphones were their Redmi smartphones. Out of the top 5 best selling smartphones in India, 4 were from Redmi:
- Redmi 8A Dual
- Redmi Note 8
- Redmi Note 9 Pro
- Redmi 8
All of these were entry-level and budget smartphones and all of them give great specs at the prices which they come at. Also, as the COVID-19 situation has arrived, online sales have sprung, so most online models are selling hotcakes, making these Redmi smartphones best sellers on both Amazon & Flipkart.
