Nottingham Forest defender Harry Toffolo has admitted to 375 breaches of FA’s betting rules, and has received a five-month suspension and a fine worth $26,177. The player’s ban is suspended until the end of the 2024/25 season, for breaches that occurred between January 22, 2014 and March 18, 2017.

But, the details of the breaches have not been revealed by the FA as of yet. The 28-year-old becomes the second Premier League player to receive a ban for betting breaches after Ivan Toney of Brentford

Toffolo has been with Forest since 2022 and has a contract with the club until 2024. He has only made 22 appearances for the club so far, providing only one assist so far.

Harry Toffolo banned for 375 betting breaches

The punishment has been given after a lengthy hearing with an independent regulatory commission. The rules state that players “shall not bet, either directly or indirectly, or instruct, permit, cause or enable any person to bet on” matches or competitions.

In comparison, Ivan Toney was handed an eight month suspension for 232 breaches. He was also fined $62,000, much higher than Harry Toffolo. The striker will be able to return to football from January after receiving his sentence in May. He could have had a longer ban had he not been diagnosed with a gambling addiction.
