ZTE Axon 20 5G has already been teased by the company and the launch date is fixed on September 1. The most interesting part of this phone is that it will come with an under-display camera. In our previous article, we have discussed the working technology of such an under-display camera. The company is also teasing more in some short promotional videos time to time.
This time the company has revealed three new colour variants of the phone way ahead of the launch. The phone will come with a 6.92-inch OLED full-screen (2460×1080) and an octa-core processor clocked at 2.4GHzSnapdragon 765G chipset that supports 5G connectivity.
Axon 20 5G will have a 32MP under-display camera at the front. At the back we will see a 64MP primary sensor, paired with one 8MP and two 2MP units. The phone will have upto 12GB RAM and upto 256GB storage. It will run on Android 10.
Axon 20 5G will be powered by a 4,120 mAh battery with fast charging support. The AXON A20 5G has four color options – black, purple, gold, and blue.
The main hurdle in such an under-display camera smartphone is the poor light transmittance through a screen. But it seems that ZTE has managed to circumvent this hurdle by using a panel developed by Visionox, one of the biggest OLED manufacturers in China. As per the intel of GSMArena, the company has already completed the R&D of the UD camera and the company says it works by optimizing the pixel arrangement around the camera’s lens.
ZTE is not the first company to produce the under-display camera smartphone but this technology we have already seen a year ago from Oppo, but ZTE will be the first smartphone brand that will mass produce an under-display camera smartphone.
