Manchester City have reached an agreement with Wolves to sign Matheus Nunes. The Portuguese midfielder will sign for the treble winners after spending only one season with the Midlands club, after joining from Sporting CP.

The two clubs have agreed on a transfer fee in the region of €60 million including add-ons. Tommy Doyle will be moving in the other direction and will be signing for a £5 million fee with a 50% sell-on clause included in his contract.

The midfielder recently denied training with Wolves to force a transfer, and his antics seems to have paid off with the club pressured into a sale. Manchester City now have another quality midfielder in their squad, after Pep Guardiola’s public appreciation of the player last year.

Matheus Nunes is currently in Manchester to complete his medical and the formalities for the transfer. The two clubs are exchanging documents for the transfer to be completed in the coming hours.

An official announcement should be made prior to the deadline confirming his arrival from Wolves. On the other hand, City have sanctioned Cole Palmer’s transfer to Chelsea for a fee worth £45 million and are currently at the top of the table with three straight wins.

Wolves, on the other hand, have let another important player go this summer. And it only adds to their worrying performance in the transfer market, which could lay the foundation for a season where they get relegated.
