Newcastle United have signed Lewis Hall on a loan deal from Chelsea with a mandatory buy option, which means he will become a new permanent player for the Magpies next summer. The total value of the deal for the Magpies is around £35 million and comes in spite of the youngster signing a new contract with Chelsea just a few weeks ago.

Hall impressed during his cameos with the first team this past season and was expected to be a player for the future. But, he has chosen to find regular playing time and Newcastle have been able to persuade him with their project. He will be completing the medical for the move to go through very soon.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has confirmed that Howe will be the last signing for the club this summer. They have already recruited Sandro Tonali in a record deal, while also signing Harvey Barnes from Leicester City and Tino Livramento from Southampton.

Lewis Hall had a number of competitors in the left-back position at Chelsea. Ben Chilwell remains the first-choice, while Ian Maatsen and Marc Cucurella are also looking for game time under Mauricio Pochettino.

The Blues have been left with no choice but to offload their academy graduate who was keen on regular game time. Newcastle started their 23/24 season with a win against Aston Villa and will be looking to mount a title challenge this time around.
