Real Sociedad have signed Andre Silva on a season-long loan deal from RB Leipzig. The player has arrived with a buy option included worth €15 million in his contract, which can be activated at the end of the season.
Silva is currently injured, and will be out for the start of the La Liga campaign. He will be back in time to compete for a significant portion of the season, which should see him establish himself as the club’s first-choice striker.
Andre Silva joins Real Sociedad on loan from RB Leipzig
The 27-year-old struggled to find his best form at Leipzig, but was able to produce a remarkable display only two years ago with Eintracht Frankfurt. And coming to the peak of his physical abilities, he will be expected to deliver when he is fit to play.
Sociedad missed out on the signature of Alexander Sorloth, after the player joined Villarreal. He spent last season on loan with them, but has now left Leipzig permanently.
Andre Silva will be competing with Umar Sadiq and Carlos Fernandez for the striker’s position. The Portugal international had a disappointing spell in La Liga last time with Sevilla in 2018. But, he has developed his game significantly since then. And it will be interesting to see how things play out for the Portuguese forward this time around.
