Intel has announced a partnership with ASUS to produce and sell current and next-generation NUC Mini PCs to customers. The announcement comes barely a week after Intel announced its retirement from the NUC Mini PC category. The NUC Mini PC lineup was one of the most interesting consumer-based options available in the industry, ranging from several entry-level and high-end SFF designs, and while Intel will no longer be manufacturing NUCs, they have agreed to collaborate with ASUS to develop the next line of NUCs.

According to Intel’s news release, the company has agreed to a term sheet with ASUS that permits the OEM to manufacture and sell 10th through 13th Gen NUC systems while simultaneously preparing next-generation NUC PCs.

Intel has not disclosed the details of this deal, but it appears that ASUS will be given preferential treatment over the other NUC system providers who will also be producing Mini PCs.

ASUS was chosen for their experience and track record of producing industry-leading Mini PCs such as their PN, PB, and PL series. It remains to be seen whether Intel will transfer its existing NUC product line to ASUS and allow them to market as they see fit.

It is stated that ASUS will be developing an entirely new and separate business unit known as ASUS NUC BU, which will not only be responsible for offering current and next-generation NUC PCs but will also enable ASUS to provide product and support continuity for existing Intel NUC system customers, which is great because it means that existing owners will not be left out of warranty and support.
