Maruti Suzuki is all set to unveil its eagerly awaited premium 3-row utility vehicle (UV), the Invicto, today. After initiating bookings for the Invicto last month, the company is now ready to introduce the vehicle to the public and is likely to reveal its pricing information. The Invicto is essentially a rebadged version of the Toyota Innova Hycross, which was launched in November last year and has gained recognition for its impressive mileage of 21.1 kmpl.

Differences compared to the Toyota Hycross

In terms of appearance, the Invicto is anticipated to bear a resemblance to the Hycross but will feature minor exterior modifications to establish its unique identity. Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki Invicto is likely to employ the same powertrain as the Hycross, utilizing a self-charging battery to enhance its fuel efficiency. Toyota claims that the Hycross offers a range of 1097 km on a full tank, making it one of the most fuel-efficient options in the MPV/SUV market.

Features of the Maruti Suzuki Invicto

The Invicto is expected to offer a range of amenities similar to those found in the Toyota Innova Hycross, including a panoramic sunroof, powered Ottoman captain seats, mood lighting, and more. Maruti Suzuki positions Invicto as a luxury product, aligning with its branding strategy.

Booking and Expected Price of the Maruti Suzuki Invicto

Customers can currently book the Invicto by visiting any NEXA showroom or through the official website. The booking requires an initial payment of ₹25,000. The Invicto is priced at ₹24.79 lakhs, positioning it in competition with popular models such as the Toyota Innova Crysta, Kia Carnival, and Mahindra XUV700 in the premium MPV segment.

Waiting Period for the Maruti Suzuki Invicto

The Invicto will be manufactured at Toyota’s Bidadi plant, which is currently responsible for producing the Grand Vitara line of vehicles. As both the Invicto and Innova Hycross will be assembled on the same production line, it is anticipated that Toyota’s existing two-year waiting period for the strong-hybrid variants of the Hycross might experience additional impact.

Engine Options of the Maruti Suzuki Invicto

The Invicto will be equipped with the identical 2.0-litre petrol engine as the Toyota Innova Hycross, delivering a power output of 174PS and a torque of 205Nm. This engine will be mated to a CVT automatic transmission, ensuring smooth and efficient performance on the road. The Invicto will be available in both 7-seater and 8-seater configurations, catering to various customer preferences.

Shashank Srivastava, executive director at Maruti Suzuki, expressed enthusiasm for the Invicto, noting that it fulfills the requirements and motivations of a distinct market segment with similar income categories. Maruti Suzuki believes that the launch of the Invicto will meet the demands of buyers seeking a premium, three-row vehicle.
