Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Air is lacking a “Cooling Fan”!

The 15-inch MacBook Air has a larger display than the 13-inch model, but there are many similarities between the two portable Macs, such as the cooling method they utilise. The smaller MacBook Air came with no cooling fan, and Apple probably wanted to make the 15-inch model slim and light, so it eschewed an active cooling solution as well.

With the larger overall footprint of the 15-inch MacBook Air, Apple had enough room to deploy an enhanced cooling solution that incorporated a fan, similar to the 13-inch MacBook Pro. Unfortunately, that is not the case here but the bigger surface area can be useful when it comes to cooling the M2.

Despite the lack of a cooling fan, the 15-inch MacBook Air is 22 percent heavier than the 13-inch model.

This is due to Apple’s decision to use an all-aluminium casing, which improves the build quality of its machines but significantly increases the weight.

Whereas other businesses use magnesium metal or plastic in their computers to save weight and cost, Apple goes the opposite approach. However, according to The Verge’s assessment, the MacBook Air’s keyboard becomes hot, but this does not render it unusable.

It’s likely that Apple purposefully chose not to include a cooling fan with the 15-inch MacBook Air. This would imply that buyers would have to pay more for MacBook Pro models, which can handle more resource-intensive jobs thanks to their strong processors and control temperatures with dual-fan cooling solutions.

So all in all what I can say is that if you are a college student whose major use for a laptop is Internet surfing, writing papers and watching Movies or YouTube with a side touch of social media blogging, then this one is meant for you. All the heavy users out there, especially you coders, stay away from it. Peace out.
