Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is reportedly 30% faster then its predecessor

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is not made using TSMC’s cutting-edge 3nm process, however, it seems to be proving itself a good performer. According to one tweet, the forthcoming SoC will be up to 30% faster than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, but this does not guarantee that other tests will show the same difference.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will purportedly receive a significant performance advantage over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 thanks to TSMC’s N4P technology, without sacrificing power efficiency.

These performance discrepancies of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 were provided by Twitter user Revegnus, who claims that the new GPU, thought to be the Adreno 750, will be 30% quicker in OpenCL testing than the graphics processor in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

However, given the percentage disparity reduces dramatically, that was likely the single highlight of the performance discrepancies. The same tweet claims that multi-core performance is 20% better than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and while no benchmark programme is mentioned, Revegnus is most likely referring to Geekbench 6.

Unfortunately, those performance differences are reduced in single-core results, where the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is said to be only 10% quicker than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

This means that Qualcomm may not prioritise improving the clock speed of the Cortex-X4 to give it a significant edge over the Cortex-X4, but the existence of additional Cortex-A720 cores will tilt the scales in favour of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
