First Apple MacBook with ARM A14X Bionic chip may give up to 20 hours of battery life & cost at least $799

The Cupertino giant’s move to shred Intel for its Macs is a major decision in the history of computing and there were questions surrounding whether or not Apple will be able to make this transition faster. Apple has already confirmed most of its application has been rebuild for ARM-based Macs and rest will be done in 2 years time.

Also, there were speculations surrounding when actually the Cupertino giant would bring these ARM-powered Mac to the market? Thanks to tipster @komiya_kj who has given a brief overview of the upcoming 12-inch MacBook and also the release date of this new laptop will be on October 27 at a Special Event along with the first ARM-powered Apple MacBook Pro 13 says Notebookcheck.

So, the 12-inch MacBook will be having a starting price of $799 while the MacBook Pro 13 should start at $1,099. If the pricing somehow matches then Apple will have a broader market, especially target ones who will love to have a great mid-range laptop.

As an Intel executive said previously, Intel had no real improvements in both battery life and performance due to their Skylake architecture which ultimately made Intel lose Apple’s contract. So the new budget MacBook is said to feature a 12-inch Retina display along with configurable 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM options paired with 256 GB, 512 GB, or possibly 1 TB of SSD storage.

All of these SKUs will be powered by Apple’s upcoming A14X Bionic chipset and should actually be passively-cooled and will give you more battery life, currently speculated to give 15-20 hours. If Apple can optimize its macOS properly and implement an efficient chip, I am pretty sure that those numbers won’t be impossible.

Apple Silicon for next-gen Macs announced at WWDC 2020

Much expectedly the upcoming 12-inch MacBook should weigh less than 1 kg and feature USB Type-C port which will handle both charging and data transfers. Apple will be sticking with the same 720p webcam which is indeed better than most other budget laptops out there.

Although this Apple MacBook has lot of good qualities, but will feature the 4th generation butterfly keyboard, a step back from the scissor switches that Apple has introduced to its recent MacBook Air and MacBook Pro refreshes. However, the leaked specs shown here are unverified but seems promising, so obviously take things with a pinch of salt.
