The charisma of IPL 2023 seems to have taken an endless seat, and yet another example is Monday night’s encounter. In a nail-biting finish, KKR beat Punjab Kings by five wickets.
Andre Russell had a great game with the bat as he bagged the Player of the Match award for helping his team complete a successful run chase.

Winning the toss, the visiting captain Shikhar Dhawan opted to bat first and put up a good total of 179 runs on the board. They took 36 runs in the last two overs, which gave them a boost.
The skipper was great again with the bat as he smacked a well-made 57 with nine fours and a six. The concluding partnership between Brar and Shahrukh Khan, who contributed 17 off 9 and 21 off 8, respectively, helped the Kings smash the last two overs for some big hits.
Coming down to chase the target at their home ground, KKR had a decent start, with Jason Roy playing his part with a well-made 38 of 24. After the skipper Nitish Rana departed for a stunning 51 off 38, the equation was still big with around 60 runs required in six overs.
However, it was Russell who made it look easy, hitting three big sixes and three fours. The match was up for a lot of drama as it moved to the last over. Thanks to the young man Rinku Singh again, who held his nerves again and eventually helped his team get past the victory score with a last-ball four.
