The AMD Ryzen 7 7840U APU-equipped Ayaneo 2S handheld console has been given a technical deep-dive by the company. The AMD Ryzen 7 7840U, which provides desktop-class performance in a 15-28W design, will power the Ayaneo 2S Handheld gaming console.
This chip is comparable to the Ryzen Z1 series processors that power the ASUS ROG Ally portable gaming console, but those have more power-saving features. As of right now, only ASUS is using Ryzen Z1 series chips; the other console manufacturers will use Ryzen 7040U series.
Ayaneo 2S: All You Need to Know
One of the many AMD Ryzen 7 7840U Phoenix APUs, intended for the 15-28W laptop and handheld market, is the Ryzen 7040U. In addition to the Radeon 780M iGPU, which makes use of the RDNA 3 GPU architecture, this CPU has 8 cores and 16 threads based on the Zen 4 core architecture.
It has 12 processing units, giving it a total of 768 cores that operate at a frequency close to 2800 MHz. According to information released, the Ayaneo 2S has an APU and 16 GB of LPDDR5X memory that operates at 7500 Mbps.
Additionally, it should be noted that the new Ayaneo 2S comes with a new heatsink design that uses a 3+1 copper tube and copper sheet arrangement to increase the heat dissipation area to 1118mm2, which is 33% larger than the one found on the Ayaneo 2 handheld. The new heatsink performed up to 11.6C cooler than its predecessor in a variety of tests presented by Ayaneo.
The new heatsink also has an improved airflow design with a rapid heat exhaust system that doubles the size of the air outlet. A 50.25 Wh battery has also been upgraded for even longer gaming sessions. To improve thermal performance, there is even an additional Graphene heatsink sink on the back of the chassis and the battery.
In the previous AYANEO 2, users could choose between 512 GB and 2 TB of SSD storage and 16 to 32 GB of RAM. The Starry Black and Sky White Ayaneo 2S will also have a unique but limited Retro Power theme. The cost of the previous AYANEO 2 ranged from $1099 to $1499, and the price for the new model should remain the same.
The Windows 11 operating system will come preinstalled on the portable gaming console Ayaneo 2S. It’s unclear if the manufacturer will continue to use the linear motor found in the Nintendo Switch, as they did in earlier models. The assembly, trigger, and body mould have all been improved, resulting in a console that feels better in the hands and is simple to disassemble.
The Ayaneo 2S uses a 7″ IPS screen with an ultra HD (1920 x 1200) wide resolution as its display. The screen is rated at 323 PPI, 450 nits of brightness, 1200:1 of contrast, and 96% (sRGB) DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage.
