AOKZOE A1 Pro Handheld Gaming device runs on a powerful AMD Ryzen 7 7840U “Pheonix” APU

The AMD Ryzen 7 7840U “Phoenix” APU from AOKZOE’s upcoming A1 Pro Handheld Gaming console has been spotted on Geekbench 5. @Olrak29_ has discovered several entries for the AOKZOE A1 Pro handheld gaming console, confirming that we will soon be getting a new device running AMD’s most recent APU series.

The AMD Rembrandt APU that powers the AOKZOE A1 is currently running Ryzen 7 6800U, so the switch to the new Phoenix APU will be a significant one given that we will also be getting the newest RDNA 3 GPU architecture.

In terms of specs, the AMD Ryzen 7 7840U is a Ryzen 7040U Phoenix APU that is made for laptop designs that use 15 to 28 watts. In addition to the Radeon 780M iGPU, which makes use of the RDNA 3 GPU architecture, this CPU has 8 cores and 16 threads based on the Zen 4 core architecture.

The 768 cores in the 12 compute units on the GPU side will operate well above the 2.5 GHz frequency. The APU has already been observed operating in a number of benchmarks and still has a powerful 28W TDP design.

In the meantime, the laptop GPUs for RTX 2050 and GTX 1650 Ti are successfully contested by the RDNA 3 iGPU. The next-generation WinMax handheld gaming PC from GPD, which was also teased yesterday, is also powered by the same Phoenix APU.

We are looking at frequencies ranging from sub-3.0 GHz to over 5.0 GHz, which suggests that AOKZOE is testing the A1 Pro handheld gaming console with variable TDPs based on the clock speeds reported by Geekbench 5/6. The system has 16 GB of DDR5 memory installed.

A nice improvement over the Ryzen 7 6800U predecessor, Geekbench 5’s performance tops out at 1917 single-core and 10,087 multi-core points and Geekbench 6’s performance tops out at 2426 single-core and 10,714 multi-core points.

It appears that AOKZOE is currently looking for internal testers to assess the device before it is formally announced. You can register for the internal test here if you’re interested.

On its YouTube channel, the company has also been posting various game performance tests, such as Elden Ring, which runs at 1280×800 with Medium image quality at 60 frames per second and a 28W TDP.
