Leicester City sack Brendan Rodgers after 4 years in charge

Leicester City have officially parted ways with Brendan Rodgers as the manager of the first team, following their defeat against Crystal Palace yesterday. The former Liverpool boss spent four years in charge of the Foxes and has now left by mutual agreement, as per the official statement.

The team has been underperforming massively this season, after challenging for Europe in the past few years. They are currently locked in a battle for relegation, and have only ten games to prevent it from happening.

Brendan Rodgers leaves Leicester City by mutual consent

“Leicester City Football Club has reached a mutual agreement with Brendan Rodgers that will see him leave the Club after four years as our Men’s First Team Manager,” the statement released by the club read.

“Brendan departs King Power Stadium as one of the most successful managers in the Club’s history, having guided us to our long-awaited first FA Cup triumph in 2021, the FA Community Shield in the same year, two of the Club’s three highest Premier League finishes and consecutive European campaigns, including our first European semi-final in 2022.”

During his time in charge, Rodgers delivered the FA Cup by defeating Chelsea in the finals. He also won the subsequent Community Shield, and helped the Foxes emerge as genuine European contenders during his time in charge.

Leicester have confirmed that First Team Coaches Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell will take charge for the time being. The race to find a new permanent head coach has now begun, with several options available. However, rumours suggest that there is no specific person that is being monitored as things stand.
