Marcus Rashford has hit back at claims that he was asking to be the Premier League’s best-paid player in order to renew with Manchester United. The forward is in the form of his life and is in negotiations with the club to renew his contract.

Rumours emerged of his wage demands being the stumbling block in negotiations. And they have now been put to bed by the man himself, after he took to Twitter to respond to them.

Marcus Rashford denies claims of crazy wage demands for renewal

A figure around £500,000 per week was doing the rounds, which would be the highest wage ever in the English top flight. And while Marcus Rashford is playing like he’s worth that amount right now, it would completely shatter United’s newly rebuilt wage structure.

The club is in the process of changing ownership, with the Glazers finally looking to sell. But they have made it clear that no player will be given a crazy contract after what went down with Cristiano Ronaldo’s second spell.

Rashford’s contract was set to expire this summer, but the club have activated the one-year extension option in it. Which means he is out of a contract next summer. But, United want to tie him down to a new deal as soon as possible to mitigate any risk of him leaving.

Several English and foreign clubs are keeping tabs on the situation, including PSG. And they would want nothing more than to sign a player of Rashford’s calibre on a cut price or a free transfer. However, given the player’s loyalty to his boyhood club, the chances of a transfer are very low.
