BCCI is looking forward to conducting a short T20 series at home against either Sri Lanka or Afghanistan in June. However, to fulfill it, the Indian cricket board will be needing a temporary broadcast partner. They had their deal with Disney-Star that concluded with the conclusion of the India vs Australia series last week.

BCCI currently plans to release the their media rights with the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League getting over, and hence there will be no broadcaster. Hence they are looking to release a separate tender for the series.

However, the series is only at the planning stage, as no official confirmation regarding it has been made yet. India is also yet to play a T20 series against Afghanistan, and the possibility is there that the men in blues show up as the host. On the other hand, Sri Lanka is there and always shares a great rapport with BCCI.

Hence, India could host any of the teams for a short series before they leave for their tour to West Indies. Obviously, this is going to happen after the WTC Final. In addition to that, sources also state that no senior players are going to take part in it, and Hardik Pandya is likely to lead the squad.

A Senior BCCI official in this regard

A senior BCCI official said in this regard said that they are still in discussion, and no series has been finalized till now. Since the month of June will have a little gap after the WTC Final, they are in talks with a couple of boards. The official also said that it would also be monsoon in India at that time; hence deliberation would be needed. However, if the series is finalized, they have to bring in a series-specific broadcaster, as there will be high chance that their new deal won’t be finalized.
