The upcoming IPL 2023 season is not just about the teams battling it out on the field, but also about the two giant broadcasting companies, Star Sports and Jio Cinema, vying for supremacy in the streaming world. As the battle heats up,

Let’s take a closer look at the rivalry between Star Sports and Jio Cinema regarding the streaming of IPL: IPL 2023

‘Jio Cinema’ will stream #IPL2023 for ‘FREE’ and in 11 different languages.

Viacom18 earned the Media Rights for streaming IPL on digital platforms, while Star Sports Network earned Media Rights for broadcasting it on Television.

  1. Brand ambassadors: MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli

The two companies have roped in some of the biggest names in cricket as their brand ambassadors. Jio Cinema has MS Dhoni as their brand ambassador, while Star Sports has Virat Kohli as their brand ambassador. Both players are fierce competitors on the field and their off-field rivalry is just as intense.

  1. Free streaming

While Viacom18 has picked up the streaming rights for IPL, Jio Cinema will air all matches for free in 4K ultra HD. In response, Star Sports has announced that 12 games will be broadcast on their free-to-air channel, Star Utsav. This move is aimed at increasing their viewership and giving them an edge over Jio Cinema.

  1. Multiple languages

Viacom18 has announced that they will live stream IPL 2023 in 12 languages, including Bhojpuri, Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam, and Gujarati, among others, on their Jio Cinema platform. This is a major advantage for Jio Cinema, as they can cater to a wider audience. Star Sports, on the other hand, has not yet announced any plans for broadcasting in multiple languages.

  1. Promotional videos

Both Star Sports and Jio Cinema have released their promotional videos for IPL 2023. Jio Cinema’s video features MS Dhoni and highlights their free streaming service, while Star Sports’ video features Virat Kohli and emphasizes the #ShorOn and #GameOn. Both videos have already created a buzz among cricket fans and are being widely shared on social media.
