Asus ROG Strix XG27AQMR is here with 27-inch QHD panel sporting 300 Hz refresh rate

The Asus ROG Strix XG27AQMR not only has a 27-inch QHD panel, but it also has a native refresh rate of 300Hz. The new monitor is based on the ROG Strix XG27AQM, which has the same resolution and a refresh rate of 270Hz overclocked. The R at the end of the name of the latest model denotes the faster native refresh rate of 300Hz.

Both generations of monitors use a fast IPS panel, but the newer model’s Grey-to-Grey response time is 1ms, which is a fraction slower than the older model’s 0.5ms. The ROG Strix XG27AQMR has DisplayHDR 600 certification, which is higher than the DisplayHDR 400 rating of its predecessor, but the typical brightness remains unchanged at 350 nits.

Support for both Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium adaptive-sync technologies can be enabled alongside ELMB Sync, a low-motion-blur technology that Asus claims can eliminate ghosting and tearing for sharp visuals and high frame rates while gaming.

The Asus ROG Strix XG27AQMR monitor has 97% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage and 120% sRGB coverage.

It is also factory calibrated and comes with a calibration report. Buyers will find one DisplayPort 1.4 input, two HDMI 2.0 ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The ROG Strix XG27AQMR’s price and availability have yet to be announced by Asus. The previous non-R model costs around $649.99, so this upgraded model is likely to cost a little more. It should still be less expensive than the Asus ROG Swift PG27AQN, our choice for the best overall 1440p gaming monitor, which is 1440p@360Hz and costs nearly $1,200.
