The Galaxy S23 family is now available for purchase in all countries where the phone is sold. The Galaxy S23 Ultra, as expected, will be a fan favourite due to its brand-new 200-megapixel camera, which is said to take better photos.
Samsung has always nailed the camera experience with the camera of Samsung phones always giving excellent performance. DxOMark is an independent tester that tests a wide range of equipment but is best known for its smartphone camera scores.
The publication’s scores are notorious for igniting heated debates in various forums, and they’re back with the Galaxy S23 Ultra, and some users may disagree.
The good news is that DxOMark still praises the camera on the new Galaxy S23 Ultra, emphasising how the device provides consistent camera performance across all features, excellent photo rendering with high detail level, excellent autofocus in both video and audio, and strong tele zoom performance at longer ranges.
However, the publication also mentions how the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s cameras suffer from loss of image detail when shooting in low light, as well as shutter lag and exposure and focus instabilities when the scene is backlit.
DxOMark has given the phone a 140/149 score, which sounds pretty good, but it places the phone 10th in both the global and ultra-premium rankings. The Galaxy S23 Ultra is tied for tenth place with the Google Pixel 7 and the Vivo X90 Pro+. While Huawei Mate 50 Pro takes the top spot, Google Pixel 7 Pro comes in second.
