Samsung Semiconductor India Research brings Samsung Innovation Campus Program to 30 districts in partnership with Govt. of Karnataka

Samsung to manufacture semiconductor component in Vietnam from 2023

Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR) today, announced its partnership with the Department of Collegiate and Technical Education (DCTE), Government of Karnataka as part of its flagship CSR program “Samsung Innovation Campus”. The partnership will enhance technical skills in the Internet of Things (IOT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for more than a thousand students and teachers in 37 polytechnic colleges across 30 districts of Karnataka.

This initiative strengthens Samsung’s commitment towards the Government’s Skill India initiative as part of its vision of #PoweringDigitalIndia. The collaboration will provide hands-on training and access to cutting-edge technologies to students in rural areas.

Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) program, a global citizenship initiative aims to foster innovation in IoT and AI and bridge the proficiency gaps and aims to skill our GenZ’s in new-age technologies thereby enhancing their employability. The SIC program will ignite a technological revolution by offering students training through a comprehensive understanding of the latest technologies and a unique opportunity to collaborate with SSIR engineers.

The program will include all the adequate facilities, required kits, and equipment along with IoT and AI-based training for students as per the SIC module. This will further enable an ecosystem of innovation for students to thrive and help them develop industry-capable skills as part of their learning curriculum. Under a multidisciplinary approach, students will be provided with a space to solve local problems through practical experience working in the field of agriculture, healthcare, manufacturing, water, and energy management.

Balajee Sowrirajan, CVP, Samsung Electronics & MD, SSIR, said, “Our partnership
with the Department of Collegiate and Technical Education, Government of
Karnataka marks a pivotal step in the advancement of technology education in
rural Karnataka. We truly concur with government’s focus on “Make AI for India’

country with leading IoT and AI knowledge and skills and create limitless
opportunities for them in the fast-growing technology sector. We are proud to
contribute and bridge the digital divide and secure the nation’s place as a
leader in the global digital ecosystem.”

Commenting on the partnership, Dr. C. N. Ashwath Narayan –
Minister of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood of Karnataka,
said

a forward-looking vision to bring cutting-edge IoT and AI solutions to rural
students in Karnataka. The launch of the “Samsung Innovation Campus” program
levels the playing field, providing equal access to the latest technology and real-world
knowledge. Through this partnership, our aim is to unleash the transformative
power of digitalization, empowering students from remote areas with
opportunities of the future and equip them with the right technology skills
needed for success.”

Students will go through theoretical as well as practical applications as per the course module and will go through assessments during and after the completion of the course. In the end, students have to prepare the project in the final stage. Certificates will also be given out after reaching a certain level of training.
