Barcelona are considering new sponsors to add to their existing line-up, in hopes of dealing with their financial woes. Having used up their economic levers this past summer, the club will not be allowed a repeat of the strategy.

As a result, they are looking at other ways of generating money in order to cope with their debt. According to a report by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are in talks over adding a sponsor to their shorts which could help add more revenue to their books.

Barcelona exploring unprecedented shorts sponsorship deals

Currently, they are in talks with Philips as their new sleeve sponsor to generate €2-3 million for the remainder of the season. And from 23/24, it could go up to around €8-9 million.

Other Spanish teams like Mallorca and Espanyol are already taking advantage of shorts sponsors. And if they can strike a deal, Barcelona will be the next to arrange such a sponsorship.

If it does indeed go through, the logo will be visible on the rear side of the shorts. The deal could generate a sum worth €5 million, which would help Barcelona with their Financial Fair Play struggles and make things easier.

The club has already been denied significant revenue after being dumped out of the Champions League in the group stage. But, having won the Supercopa de Espana and being at the top of La Liga right now, they might be able to generate a good amount of performance-based revenue at the end of the season if they can win the league and the other trophies they are still competing for.
