The growing popularity of ChatGPT has prompted Google to reportedly accelerate its AI development and launch over 20 AI-related projects this year. The tech titan wants to find a way to mitigate the potential harm caused by ChatGPT and other similar services to its core “search” business.

According to The New York Times, Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin have met with their corporate executives and teams to discuss the threats posed by ChatGPT. This is unprecedented because the two tech titans have been largely absent from the company since 2019 and have handed over control to CEO Sundar Pichai.

This year, Google plans to unveil an impressive array of AI-powered products, as well as a powerful chatbot for its search engine. According to reports, the tech behemoth is preparing to unveil at least 20 AI-powered products that have the potential to revolutionise how consumers use the internet.

The chatbot, which will be integrated into Google’s search engine, is expected to answer questions and provide information in a more natural, human-like manner.

In a recent all-hands meeting, Google executives addressed the rise of AI chatbots, but noted that there are still some issues to be resolved. These include preventing the chatbot’s bias, factuality, and accuracy.

Virtual assistants, smart home devices, facial recognition technology, and other Google AI-powered products are on the way. Many tech experts and academics have discussed the potential of AI-powered products, suggesting that AI could eventually be used to create robots that can perform everyday tasks and even replace some human jobs.

On a larger scale, Google’s AI-powered products may have an impact on education, with some claiming that students will no longer be required to write essays or memorise facts. Others argue that the technology could be used to help students learn better and faster, with AI-powered products.
