Dani Alves has been sentenced to jail for sexual assault in Barcelona. Charges against him were put forth on 30th December 2022, and he went to Mossos d’Esquadra de Les Corts to testify against the allegations made against him.
The 39-year-old is currently held without bail for his actions at a nightclub. His contract with Mexican club Pumas was terminated shortly after the allegations, and he is now set to face the charges in Spain.

“Yes, I was in that place, with more people, enjoying myself. And people who know me know that I love to dance. I was dancing and enjoying myself without invading the space of others,” the player said.
“I don’t know who that lady is. You arrive at a bathroom and you don’t have to ask who’s there. I have never invaded anyone’s space. How am I going to do it with a woman or a girl? No, for God’s sake.”
His contract with Pumas was terminated with an official statement from the club as well:
“Club Universidad makes the decision to terminate the contract with Dani Alves with just cause,” Silva said.
“This is an institution that promotes respect and the correct, dignified and professional behaviour of its male and female players both on and off the field because they are role models in Mexico and throughout the world. We cannot permit any conduct that would damage our philosophy.”
Unless the decision from the judge is reversed, the footballer will be held in jail until trial.
