Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of highly-rated youngster Jhon Duran on a permanent deal from MLS club Chicago Fire. They will be paying a sum worth £15 million for the 19-year-old, who is expected to complete the first part of the medical assessment in his native Colombia.
He will soon make the trip to England to complete the other formalities and be officially presented as a new player for the Midlands club. Unai Emery will be able to count on him alongside Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings as the strikers in the team.
Jhon Duran to join Aston Villa on a permanent deal
“Aston Villa can confirm that an agreement has been reached with Chicago Fire for the permanent transfer of 19-year-old striker, Jhon Duran. The deal is subject to the player passing a medical, agreeing personal terms and obtaining the necessary work visa,” the official statement read.
According to Fabrizio Romano, personal terms over a long-term contract have been agreed between the player and the club. And it seems only a matter of time before he is seen wearing the Claret shirt.
During his early teenage days at Envigado, he was a powerful winger. And he has since been transformed into a centre-forward during his time with Chicago Fire.
Liverpool and Chelsea were the two other clubs keen on signing him. But, Aston Villa have won the race and will soon reveal him as a new transfer arrival for January.
