Last Saturday, Messi gave an assist for Vidal to score the lone winning goal against Real Valladolid. With that assist, Messi has created history. It was his 20th assist of this season. He has now equalled Xavi’s record of most assist in a single LaLiga season and you can definitely bet Messi is going to break the record in the last two remaining matches of this season.

The Barcelona captain has also made another record with that assist. Messi has 22 goals and 20 assists in this season. He has become the second player after Thierry Henry to have more than 20 goals and 20 assists in a single top-five European league season in the 21st century.
In the 2002-03 season, Thierry Henry scored 24 goals and provided 20 assists for Arsenal in the Premier League.
