Daley Blind’s contract with Ajax has been mutually terminated six months prior to its expiry, as officially announced by the club. The defender is now free to find another team, with Royal Antwerp reportedly interested in his signature.

The veteran made 333 appearances and played for Ajax in two four-year spells between 2008 to 2014 and 2018 to 2022. In the middle, he spent four years with Manchester United, winning the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Europa League and Community Shield under Jose Mourinho, which happen to be the last trophies the club won.

‘Over the course of the last few days, we reached an agreement with Daley to terminate his contract. I hope he can find another club to end his successful career with,’ Edwin van der Sar said.

‘Together with Daley, we have decided on a match in the ArenA where he can say a proper goodbye to the supporters.’

According to reports, Daley Blind’s father, Danny, has also left Ajax after stepping down from his supervisory role. Danny was an Ajax player and also featured for the Dutch national team, but has followed his son out the exit door.

During his time with the record Dutch champions, Daley Blind won the Eredivisie title seven times. He also lifted the KNVB Cup and Johan Cruyff Shield twice, while being named the club’s player of the year in 2013 and the Eredivisie’s player of the year in 2014.
