Although Chelsea picked up their first Premier League win since October against Bournemouth, Reece James was forced off with a knee injury shortly after half-time. And now, it has been revealed that he will be out for a month, which will see him miss games against Manchester City and Liverpool.
The right-back recovered from a knee injury over the World Cup break, and was able to make the starting line-up against the Cherries. But, he went down clutching the same area, and was unable to carry on.
Reece James reveals 2022 has been most difficult year till date
“2022 has been the toughest year to date,” the Chelsea defender wrote on his Twitter.
“Just wanna thank you all for the support, none of you go unnoticed. It’s naturally effected me mentally, I’m currently just tryna deal with the cards I’ve been dealt.”
“I hope your end of year is filled with peace, joy & happiness.”
Chelsea were in fine form yesterday, and Reece James was a big part in their strong start to the game. He is one of their best players, and his absence will no doubt be a huge blow for the team. And with fixtures coming thick and fast, Graham Potter will need to find a way to cope without the youngster. Perhaps another run in the starting line-up for club captain Cesar Azpilicueta could be on the cards again.
