Female cricket is slowly and steadily becoming mainstream in India and BCCI is leaving no stone unturned to leverage this. From 2023, the Women IPL will start and BCCI expects each franchise to generate 1000 crore plus at Auction for each franchise. It’s also confirmed that the salary purse for the players can range from 40 Crore for each franchise.
“It’s a new product but an established concept. Just see the response we are getting for INDIA vs Australia series. This clearly shows Women’s Cricket has huge growth potential. We are sure each franchise can fetch 1000 Crore plus. Players will be suitably paid and each franchise can have a player purse of 35-40 Crore”,- a BCCI official said
BCCI is anticipating fetching 1000 Cr plus revenue from each franchise. 400 Crore is the base price for a closed bid. The Player Purse for each team is in the range of 35-40 crore. The Board earlier already came out with the Tender for Media Rights. In this tournament, the BCCI rights and e-auction module won’t be utilized.
BCCI sets the bar high for WIPL 2023 and expects each franchise to produce 1,000 Cr plus revenue
The base price for each franchise is Rs. 400 Crore. The board has two options now. One is to sell the WIPL teams based on zones and conduct the WIPL games at non-IPl venues. The BCCI is also thinking of giving the potential franchise bidder clear revenue visibility. It hasn’t kept a base price for the Media Rights Tender.
The tender is for the 2023-2027 period. It will be available till December 31. The bid submission will be taking place on January 12. For WIPL, a closed bidding process will be followed. In this entire process, the board can raise an amount of Rs 6,000- Rs 8,000 crore from just the sale of the five franchises.
The existing IPL owners and others have been invited to participate in the bidding. The first preference of owning a team in WIPL will be given to the existing IPL franchise owner.
The richest cricket board in the world is now going to get even richer with WIPL.
